New measles vaccination from April next year

Ludhiana: Come April, 2018, Measles Rubella (MR), a vaccination will be given to children between 9 months and 15 years.
Dr Jasbir Singh, district immunization officer said, “This new vaccination, which is being launched has much more benefits than the old measles vaccine. This vaccine also has Rubella in it which will protect children from all virus infections.”
He further added, “Measles elimination programme will soon start and each case will be investigated properly.The programme will be introduced in January or February, 2018. The report of each case will be sent to higher authorities and proper data analysis will be done.”
Comparing the new vaccine with the current one he said, “The new vaccine has rubella in it which will prevent patients from many viral infections even in the future. And it has more positive effect. Immunity will be better with this.”
The guidelines are awaited for the same. Adding more he said, " workshop for the same has been started. Even on Tuesday workshop was done in Civil hospital Ludhiana.
Proper campaigns will be started to make sure each and every child till 15 years is given this vaccination.
In the list of vaccination to be given MR will be added from next year April. And he added, “India is polio free and soon it be measles free.”
